Cuando usar will o be going to

Uno de los casos más habituales es cuando estamos hablando y decidimos algo en ese momento, en estos casos utilizaremos will.

• Lunch’s almost ready. I’ll set the table.
• La comida ya casi está lista. Voy a poner la mesa.

• The light bulb is burned out. I’ll get a new one from the warehouse.
• La bombilla se ha fundido. Voy a por una nueva en el almacén.

También se usa will al prometer algo, por ejemplo:

• I promise I will pay next dinner
• Te prometo que yo pagaré la próxima cena.

• I promise I won’t fail any exam more
• Te prometo que no suspenderé ningún examen más.

Utilizamos going to para hablar de planes o intenciones planificados antes de la conversación, no decisiones improvisadas que en esos casos se usaría will.

• I am going to make a salad for dinner.
• Voy a hacer una ensalada para cenar.

• She is going to come home tomorrow, we talked last Friday about this.
• Ella vendrá a casa mañana, lo hablamos el pasado viernes.

• I’m going to paint my study tomorrow
• Voy a pintar mi despacho mañana.

También se utiliza be going to para expresar el futuro teniendo una certeza física, es decir alguna evidencia que soporte el discurso, por ejemplo:

• Yesterday I saw the weather report and today It’s going to rain.
• Ayer vi la predicción del tiempo y hoy va a llover.

• She has studied a lot, I'm sure that she’s going to pass the math exam.
• Ella ha estudiado mucho, estoy seguro de que aprobará el examen de matemáticas.

Para expresar el futuro haciendo predicciones generales, sin evidencia física, podemos usar indistintamente will o going to ambos se pueden usar por igual.

• Someday there are going to be computers in every classroom of the country/ Someday there will be computers in every classroom of the country
• Algún día habrá ordenadores en cada aula del país.

• I think that FCBarcelona will win the next mach/ I think that FCBarcelona it's going to win next match
• Creo que el FCBarcelona ganará el siguiente partido.

- I’ve got front-row seats for the basketball game, do you want to come?
- Of course, I ____ go
